Hydrobiology staff have recently been implementing a monthly marine monitoring program for ERM and Qantas on Moreton Bay and the Brisbane River. Our new commercial vessel, the Malolo (“relax” in Tok-Pisin), performed well providing a very smooth ride. While conditions were often glassy, it was not always smooth sailing!
There have been record flows across the south-western Australian river systems this summer, complicating the normal late summer refugia pool sampling program. Hydrobiology has a couple of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) discharge impact assessments ongoing in the region which are not experiencing the usual annual flow patterns.
