It’s been almost 60 days since Hydrobiology kicked off our Marine Sediment Deposition Study in SE Brazil, run remotely from Perth but with the support of our Vitória office and our trusted HSEQ team onboard and technical advisors onshore. Despite the unseasonal bad weather and strict COVID controls, we completed our objectives safely and successfully. This survey combined a suite of high-resolution geophysical data acquisition with the collection of superficial sediments using traditional oceanographic methods and a commercial diving team. An earlier expedition in June, related to our larger study, saw our team survey the upper catchment of the Rio Doce to collect riverine sediments.
This study was run concurrently with our routine marine environmental survey – also completed safely and successfully and within its planned 21-day schedule. This marks the 10th multi-disciplinary marine environmental survey we have completed in Brazil since 2018.
Huge thanks to our colleagues at Econservation Estudos e Projetos Ambientais The EGS Group and BIOENV Análises Ambientais for their dedication and commitment to these important projects.
