Hydrobiology was recently commissioned to undertake an aquatic ecology baseline and impact assessment in Central Queensland. The sampling focused on the aquatic biota with sampling methods including the use of an e-fisher, various net types and bait traps to establish the faunal composition of the surveyed waterways and dams. Macroinvertebrates and diatoms were also collected to provide an understanding of current river condition, as well as detail concerning trophic level interactions. The sampling proved fruitful with eastern long-necked turtles (Chelodina longicollis) also making an appearance!
