In the last week of April 2019, Dr Lin Quanhong- Senior Scientist for Marine and Coastal Sciences, from our Hydrobiology Singapore office attended a 3-day business mission trip, with those from Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Water Association and Sembcorp Industries Ltd to visit the local water industry, located in Nanjing.
The visit commenced on the first day, from the Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-Tech Island (SNEI), a mini garden city with strong Singapore gene, jointly developed by the Singapore and China governments. After 10 years of development, this 15-square-kilometre island has now become a sustainable city model, that showcases a magnificent eco-friendly, high-technology, low-carbon smart city.
In the following days, Hydrobiology’s Dr Lin Quanhong delivered six presentations tailored to government sectors, local enterprises, foreign developers in China, universities and research institutes, introducing Hydrobiology’s technical excellence and high-level scientific expertise in providing leading edge aquatic environmental services to a wide range of clients. Attracting great attention, delegates from approximately 30 Chinese enterprises were present at one of the the most important meetings of the day, organized and attended by Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Bureau of Water.
As a part of the program, Dr Lin Quanhong also visited and presented to local water utilities, including major environmental players and universities, showcasing Hydrobiology’s capacity profile, through demonstrating our world-wide experiences and exchanging our technical knowledge within common areas. These areas include: water quality monitoring and improvement, watershed regulation and management, ecological recovery and remediation in rivers and lakes, polluted soil remediation, ecotoxicology, eutrophication and algae blooming, and environmental DNA. As the business mission trip came to an end, Hydrobiology was able to achieve great success in extending our footprint in China!
