Hydrobiology’s Dr Nadeeka Rathnayake (Senior Scientist, Environmental Chemistry & Geochemistry) recently represented our Team at the Mineral Sands Technical Conference 2026 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, presenting on “Water, Risk & Responsibility in Mineral Sands Mining.”
Her presentation explored how science-based water management can support more responsible and sustainable mineral sands development in environmentally sensitive coastal regions.
Building on the success of the conference, Dr Rathnayake was invited to speak live on Sri Lanka’s national television channel to discuss the future of the country’s mineral sands sector, proudly representing Hydrobiology and sharing the importance of responsible mineral sands development with a wider audience.
We’re proud to see our people representing Hydrobiology internationally, showcasing their expertise, strengthening global collaborations, and helping shape the future of responsible and sustainable resource development.
