A New Zealand Geomorphology first! Hydrobiology, together with AerialSmiths Surveying New Zealand and the University of Auckland, have published a River Styles Assessment for the Waikato Regional Council. The report assesses the unique geomorphological character and behaviour found within the Waipā River Catchment and presents a catchment-scale geomorphic sensitivity analysis.
Authored by Will Marson, Hydrobiology’s Nicole Wheeler and Professor Gary Brierley, the River Styles Assessment will be used by river managers to inform and target their restoration and management strategies.
What a great way to celebrate International Geomorphology Week!
Special thanks to Michael Pingram and Bruno David from WRC for making this work possible.
